PNP recruits over 3,000 rookie cops
MANILA, Philippines- Over 3,000 new recruits have joined the manpower of the Philippine National Police (PNP), a police official said Friday.
The PNP inducted 3,496 recruits into the police service to fill-up requirements of its regional offices for “more warm bodies for police visibility and anti-crime operations,” Police Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor said.
Mayor said a simultaneous oath-taking ceremony was held in 17 regional offices nationwide from Oct. 7-21, 2014.
He said that the new recruits, composed 2,877 male and 619 female would be appointed as Police Officer 1 with a basic monthly salary of P14, 834 and benefits amounting to P5, 660.
According to him, the recruits will undergo the mandatory Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) at the Police National Training Institute (PNTI) for six months.
Article continues after this advertisementAfter this, the trainees would undergo another six months of Field Training Program (FTP) before they are assigned to full duty status in the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) in the Police Regional Offices.
Article continues after this advertisement“PNP Chief, Director General Alan La Madrid Purisima, said the new recruits are expected to further beef-up the existing PNP personnel complement for law enforcement and public safety operations of Police Regional Offices,” he said.
Mayor said the National Police Commission (Napolcom) has authorized the PNP to recruit 13,000 more police personnel this year as part of the 2014 Regular and Attrition Recruitment Program.
“The Attrition Recruitment Program is intended to replace the projected number of personnel who will be separated from the service due to retirement, resignation, and dismissal for cause,” he said.
He added that an average of 2,500 to 3,000 personnel retire each year.
