MALOLOS, Philippines—Police killed four alleged robbers in what they claimed was a shootout with armed men cornered on a flyover while fleeing from the vicinity of a bank after aborting an alleged plan to rob it because of an approaching police car.

A police officer and a bystander were wounded in the exchange of gunfire at 9:30 a.m. on the Malolos Crossing flyover in Barangay Guinhawa.

The armed men were fleeing in a Toyota Vios sedan (with plate numbers TQK-562) after allegedly abandoning a plan to rob the Palayan sa Nayon Cooperative in the Ligas area, said Supt. Arwin Tadeo, Malolos City police chief.
