PNP reminder: Avoid social media on ‘Undas’

MANILA, Philippines- Do not post your travel itinerary and photos on social media.

This was the reminder of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to the public this weekend as thousands of Filipinos are expected to leave their homes to visit their departed loved ones in cemeteries.

Speaking to reporters, Police Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor, PNP spokesman, warned the public Friday that posting of travel photos may invite criminals thinking that their houses are easier to rob.

He reminded the public of the following safety tips when leaving the house:

Mayor said all police units nationwide have been placed under heightened alert since Thursday in anticipation of the exodus of people visiting their departed loved ones.

The PNP has deployed 41,602 policemen nationwide as the heightened alert takes effect until noon of Monday, Nov. 3.

For any police assistance, he said, the public may call the following PNP hotlines: 117, 723-04-01, or 09178475757.
