Tropical depression to enter PH on Halloween

MANILA, Philippines–The low pressure area seen to enter the Philippine area of responsibility Friday evening has intensified into a tropical depression.

The tropical depression packed maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and was moving west 15 kph, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said midday Friday.

It was last observed 1,320 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, Pagasa said.

If the tropical depression enters PAR, it would be locally named “Paeng.” At present, it is still too far to affect any part of the country.
