MANILA, Philippines – A policeman was caught selling to an undercover agent suspected shabu (metamphetamine hydrochloride) by anti-narcotics agents in a Misamis Occidental house, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Tuesday.
Senior Police Officer 2 Peejay Amboang and his accomplice Robert Serino, 41, were nabbed on Friday in an entrapment operation, which yielded approximately 25 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P175,000.
Amboang is a policeman assigned at Concepcion Municipal Police Station in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental, Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac, Jr. PDEA director general, said.
Serino is also a resident of Misamis Occidental.
Cacdac said the PDEA agents apprehended Amboang and Serino in the middle of a drug transaction at a house in Purok 5, Banisilon, Aloran town on Friday afternoon.
“When frisked, Amboang yielded an additional 122 pieces of plastic sachets of shabu, while six sachets of the illegal drug were seized from Serino,” he said.
Also arrested was a certain Kent Clarete, 27, who was inside the house where the transaction took place.
The suspects were detained at the jail facility of PDEA regional office in Misamis Occidental.
The arrested policeman and his cohort will be charged for violating Sale of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of Dangerous Drugs under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
For Clarete, a separate case for violation of the Use of Dangerous Drugs will be filed before the court.
