MANILA, Philippines – Parts of Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains on Monday, the state weather bureau said.

An intertropical convergence zone, or a merge of winds from different directions that serves as a breeding ground for low pressure areas, is prevailing in Southern Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5a.m. forecast.

“Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccsksargen and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms,” Pagasa said.

Meanwhile, the easterlies or warm winds from the east, are currently affecting the eastern part of Luzon and Visayas.

“Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly over the eastern sections,” Pagasa said.

Moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the east will prevail over the northern and eastern section of Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough, the weather bureau said.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas, it added.
