CDN’s Lariosa, Aliste rule 3k categories in Press Freedom Run

GABBY Lariosa and Corra Aliste of Cebu Daily News ruled the 3-kilometer category of the Press Freedom Run 2011 yesterday at the Cebu Business Park.

The annual running event was held in line with the celebration of the 17th Press Freedom Week in Cebu.

In the 5k race, Bayani Alvarez of ABS-CBN and Llerin Andreana of  Sun.Star emerged victorious.

Alvarez crossed the finish line in 20 minutes and 15.99 seconds to rule the men’s side while Adreana clocked 27 minutes and 12.37 seconds to win the distaff title.

Lariosa, meanwhile, dominated the men’s 3k with a time of 13:15.09. Aliste was way ahead in the women’s class with a time of 20:19.28.

The Freeman runners Dennis Tantan (13:30.66) and Julius Panerio (14:59.98) completed the top three finishers in the men’s 3k.

The Freeman’s Feliciana Prestillo (22:24.32) and CDN’s Grace Morales (22:54.76) round up the top three in the distaff side.

Jurlito Montecillo of Sun.Star placed second in the men’s 5k race (22:29.18) followed by The Freeman’s Dino Tantan (24:04.72) at third. Sheila Garde of Sun.Star placed second in the women’s 5k category (30 :56.90) while Divine Ngujo finished third with a  time of 31 minutes and 27.46 seconds.   /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
