Fake Army safe house in Rizal raided

rodriguez rizal mapMANILA, Philippines—Police raided a fake army safe house in Rodriguez, Rizal before dawn Friday.

Operatives of the National Capital Region Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) raided a fake army safe house at Kasiglahan Village, San Jose around 2:30 a.m.

Police Director Benjamin Magalong of the CIDG said three caliber 38 revolvers, one improvised shotgun, a magazine for caliber 45, and various documents and different Philippine Army identification cards were seized from the residence of suspect Danilo Datu.

Magalong said the suspect, who claimed to be an Army Major, has been issuing fake Mission Orders (MO), Memorandum Receipts (MR) and Army Intel IDs to civilians and demanded fees amounting to P7,500 from them.

Magalong said Datu is not a bona fide member of armed forces after verifying with the Philippine Army.

He said the suspect is now in the custody of NCR-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit.

Charges for violations of illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, and explosives and usurpation of authority, possession of instruments and implements for falsification and illegal use of uniforms are now being readied for filing against him.
