Rains, thunderstorms in Easter Visayas, Mindanao—Pagasa

pagasa-satpic-7am-10242014MANILA, Philippines—Light to moderate rains and thunderstorms may be experienced in Eastern Visayas and Mindanao on Friday, the state weather bureau said.

This was because of an intertropical convergence zone, or a merge of winds from northern and southern hemispheres, that is affecting Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

The northeast monsoon, or hanging amihan, meanwhile, is affecting extreme Northern Luzon.

“The regions of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated light rains,” Pagasa said.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Eastern Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough, Pagasa said.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to north with slight to moderate seas, it added.
