MANILA, Philippines—A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental at 5:50 p.m. Thursday.
The tectonic quake’s epicenter centered 39 kilometers northeast of Sarangani at a depth a depth of 97 kilometers, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported.
Intensity II was recorded in Davao City.
There were no aftershocks expected from the quake, Phivolcs said.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
