MANILA, Philippines — Does Senator Antonio Trillanes IV feel threatened about the defamation charge lodged against him by AgriNurture Inc. chief executive officer Antonio Tiu?

Not at all, as Trillanes said that he stands by his claim that Tiu is a dummy of the vice president.

“I repeat, Tiu is a dummy of Vice President [Jejomar] Binay. Now, if he will include this [statement] in his case, let him,” Trillanes said in an interview over Radyo Inquirer 990 AM Thursday.

He added that during the Senate blue ribbon sub-committee hearing conducted Wednesday, Tiu failed to prove ownership of the 350-hectare Sunchamp Agro-Industry Park in Rosario, Batangas.

“It is clear that he [Tiu] is a dummy of VP Binay. He is pretending to own a property worth almost P500 million but he failed to produce a copy of the land’s title, deed of sale to know who really owns it. He knows that he needs to prove that he is the owner [of Sunchamp]. But when he asked of the pertinent documents, he said that he left them,” Trillanes said.

Tiu filed a civil case against Trillanes before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Wednesday for the senator’s supposed defamatory statements against him.

Tiu sought P5 million from the court: P4 million for moral damages, P500,000 for exemplary damages, and P500,000 for attorney’s fees.
