2 policemen shot dead in Bulacan
MANILA, Philippines–Two policemen were shot to death by still unidentified gunmen on a street known to be a lair of drug dealers in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan province, police said Thursday.
Police Officer 1 Arsil Nasir and PO1 Freddie Claro, both from the San Jose del Monte City Police Station, died of multiple gunshot wounds on Wednesday night, Superintendent Charlie Cabradilla, city police station chief, said in a report.
Around 11 p.m., a resident reported to police hearing an exchange of gunshots in Sitio Gulod in Barangay (village) Minuyan.
Police responding to the scene found the bullet-riddled bodies of Claro and Nasir sprawled on the road. Nasir was in his police uniform, a radio report said.
The area is a known hideaway of illegal drug peddlers in San Jose del Monte City.
Police recovered spent shell casings of a .45 caliber pistol and a 9 millimeter pistol.
