Binay wife, daughter signed billing statements for Tagaytay property—witness
MANILA, Philippines – No less than the wife and daughter of Vice President Jejomar Binay allegedly signed billing statements for a three-bedroom log cabin in Tagaytay Highlands, a witness told a Senate hearing on Wednesday.
Former Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado presented documents that included receipts to the blue ribbon subcommittee as proof that the Binays owned the Tagaytay property.
At the resumption of the hearing, Mercado said there were billings for membership in the International Golf Club in Tagaytay Highlands addressed directly to Binay’s residence at 8514 Kaong Street in San Antonio Village, Makati City.
The billing receipts, Mercado said, were signed by no less than Binay’s wife, Dr. Elenita Binay, who was also former mayor of Makati City.
“Ang pumirma po dyan ay si Dra. Elenita Binay na asawa ni Mayor Jejomar Binay na ngayon ho ay Vice President ng ating bansa. Sunod sunod po yung billing na yan at sunod sunod din yung mga resibo,” he told the committee.
(It was Dr. Elenita Binay, wife of Mayor Jejomar Binay who is now vice president of the country. Those billings and receipts came one after another.)
While showing the visual presentation of the billings and receipts to the committee, Mercado also noted that even Senator Nancy Binay was a signatory to some receipts.
“Ayan po, pati si Senadora Nancy…” he said.
Binay’s camp denied that the property belonged to the Vice President.
