Suspect in Picache mom’s slay faces homicide raps in QC, trespassing charges in Laguna

MANILA, Philippines—A Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutor has recommended the filing of homicide charges against the man suspected of robbing and killing the mother of actress Cherry Pie Picache in Quezon City.

At the same time, Michael Flores will also be charged with trespassing based on a complaint filed against him by a woman in Laguna province. In a five-page resolution dated Oct. 10 and released on Tuesday, DOJ Inquest Prosecutor Ferdinand Fernandez said that based on his evaluation of the evidence submitted by the police, there was “reasonable ground” to believe that Flores committed the crime of robbery with homicide against Picache’s mother Zenaida Sison.

The prosecutor noted that during the custodial investigation, Flores admitted that he killed Sison. He also executed an extrajudicial confession in which he said he committed the crime by himself.

Sison was found dead on Sept. 19 in her house in Quezon City. Her body bore multiple stab wounds while she also had head injuries and a gash on the neck. Some of her valuables were missing while a crowbar, a kitchen knife and a piece of wood were recovered from the crime scene, along with a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt said to belong to Flores. On the other hand, the trespassing case against the suspect stemmed from the complaint filed by Lilibeth Lato of Garden Villas 3, Barangay Malusak, in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.

According to her, Flores entered her house without her knowledge and consent on Oct. 8. She called the police which arrested the suspect, who yielded several items he took from Sison’s house. Jerome Aning
