2 more suspects in QC cop’s slay identified by witnesses
MANILA, Philippines–Two more suspects have been identified in the brazen murder of Novaliches police official Chief Insp. Roderick Medrano last month, adding to the four arrested earlier for the crime.
Last week, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) included as respondents in the case Dionisio Teves, 36, a resident of Republic Avenue in Barangay (village) Holy Spirit; and Ian Drix Montehermoso, 37, from Parang, Marikina City.
The two were initially identified only by their aliases—Teves was “Boy Laki” while Montehermoso was “Bulet.”
Newly appointed QCPD director Senior Supt. Joel Pagdilao confirmed that two eyewitnesses in the Sept. 1 killing positively identified Teves and Montehermoso from the police file photos of crime suspects.
In a report to Pagdilao on Tuesday, QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) head Chief Insp. Rodelio Marcelo said that the witnesses pointed to Teves as the man who stood at the left side of Medrano’s vehicle and fired at him. Montehermoso, on the other hand, was tagged as the driver of the black motorcycle which served as the getaway vehicle.
Marcelo said the CIDU had submitted a supplemental referral to the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office properly identifying the two suspects who remain at large.

Medrano, the operations head of the QCPD Novaliches police station, was killed last month as he was driving his wife and two sons to school in Barangay Kaligayahan.
Two men opened fire on the family’s vehicle, one positioned in front the other on the driver’s side. They fled on a black motorcycle driven by another accomplice.
The police, however, believed that there were others who served as lookouts.
