Alleged leader of kidnap for ransom group in Pasay nabbed

MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested the alleged leader of a kidnap for ransom group in Pasay City on Thursday night.

Reccinte Padillo was arrested at the Pinecrest 1, Newport Residential Resort in Pasay City around 9 p.m., said Senior Superintendent Roberto Bigay of the Philippine National Police.

Padillo, alleged leader of the Padillo kidnap for ransom group, was nabbed by the PNP anti-kidnapping group (AKG) and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Bernelito R. Fernandez of the Quezon City regional trial court.

The suspect is included in the AKG list of Top Most Wanted Kidnapper for 2014 for his involvement in the kidnapping of businesswoman Sally Chua on July 2013.

His live-in partner, Yasmin Cruz and  driver-bodyguard Ivan Estrella, who both have a standing warrant of arrest for the crime of large scale estafa, were also arrested.

The three are also facing large scale estafa charges before the Abra regional trial court.
