MANILA, Philippines–The weather bureau raised the yellow rainfall warning in Metro Manila and nearby provinces on Wednesday morning.
Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna and portions of Bulacan were placed under yellow rainfall warning as of 5:30 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
This means heavy rain (7.5-15.mm rain) was expected within in the next two hours.
Meanwhile, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains affecting Cavite, Quezon (Gen. Nakar, Infanta & Real), and portions of Bataan, Pampanga and Nueva Ecija which may persist within three hours.
Elson Janela of Pagasa the rains have nothing to do with a low pressure area (LPA) near Surigao del Sur.
The LPA was last observed 500 kilometers east of Hinatuan in Surigao, del Sur.
Janela said there were no indications that it would intensify into a storm, but if it does, it will be locally named “Paeng.”
“Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Central and Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Northern Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms while the regions of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains,” Pagasa said in its early-morning bulletin.
The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, it added.
