/ 09:20 PM September 24, 2011

Looks can really be deceiving.

Taxi driver Evaristo Bagtasos, 42, learned this bitter lesson after he lost his cab and earnings to three well-dressed passengers who turned out to be holdup men.

Bagtasos told police that a young man, whom he said even looked like a minor, initially flagged him down around 1:15 a.m. along Kalayaan Avenue in Barangay Cembo, Makati City.

After a while, the suspect drew a gun and declared a heist and ordered the driver to pull over in a poorly-lit area where his two cohorts were waiting.

The suspects took the victim’s P3,000 earnings. They then ordered him to get out of the cab—a white Toyota Vios (UVN 575) with the markings “ALPREKENN”—before driving away with it.

Police said the taxi cab was recovered in Quezon City a few hours later. Tina G. Santos
