CORDON, Isabela, Philippines — A 41-year-old police investigator was shot dead in the head by an unidentified gunman while he was cruising the national road in Barangay (village) Gayong at about 3:30 a.m. on Monday, police said.
Police Senior Superintendent Sotero Ramos, Isabela police director, said the fatality, identified as Senior Police Officer 3 Alexander Ulnagan, 41, police investigator of the Cordon police, was riding his motorcycle when a gunman flagged him down and shot him in the head with a 9mm pistol.
Ulnagan served as a night duty officer on Sunday (Oct. 12) and was on his way home when waylaid.
Senior Inspector Rogelio Taliping, Cordon police chief, said the gunman got Ulnagan’s 9mm pistol and P5,000 cash, prompting police to suspect a robbery as one of the possible motives in the killing. Police are not discounting job-related and personal motives, however, as a follow-up probe has been initiated to solve the case.
