MANILA, Philippines — Police are investigating reports that a minor selling “pandesal” (bread) has been robbed of his earnings by a still unidentified man in Caloocan City.
A video of the distraught boy after the robbery took place at Barangay 168 in Deparo Thursday was uploaded on the social networking site Facebook by one Christopher Pacheco.
The Facebook post said the man first bought pandesal from the boy whose earnings he took after.
Police Officer 3 Anthony Gonzales of the Caloocan Police Station 5 told INQUIRER.net that they sent investigators to the barangay to verify the incident that wasn’t recorded on their blotter.
Gonzales said police learned that the parents of the boy filed a report in the barangay, which failed to inform the police.
A radio report, which put the boy’s age at 12, said the parents of the victim would not file charges against the perpetrator even if he would be identified.
In contrast, police will pursue the case once the identity of the culprit is known, said Gonzales.
The Caloocan police, he said, was coordinating with barangay officials.
