MANILA, Philippines–At least seven tenants were rushed to hospital after a fire hit a portion of a condominium on Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City on Friday, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.
The fire broke out at the basement of the Prince David Condominium in front of the Ateneo de Manila University at 12:42 p.m., Superintendent Jesus Fernandez of the QC fire marshal said.
Fernandez said 296 units of the condominium were affected after the smoke engulfed the building.
He said rescued tenants of the condominium complained of difficulty in breathing and were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
He said the fire, which reached second alarm, was put out at 2:14 p.m.
The BFP, he said, is still investigating the cause of the fire.
