MMDA reopens Edsa ‘zipper lane’

MANILA, Philippines–The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Friday opened a “zipper lane” or a counterflow lane along the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (Edsa) to ease traffic.

Charlie Nozares of the MMDA said a zipper lane on the northbound lane from Edsa Megamall to Boni Avenue was opened 8 a.m. to accommodate southbound motorists.

Nozares said the zipper lane, which was activated upon the order of MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino, would be open until 10 a.m. this Friday.

He said heavy traffic is experienced from the southbound lane of Edsa Timog to Buendia and the northbound lane from Edsa Magallanes to Guadalupe.
