ILOILO CITY – Classes in Iloilo City and several towns in Iloilo were suspended Friday due to heavy and continuous rains.
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said classes in all levels in public and private schools were suspended as a precautionary measure. Several areas in the city experienced flooding due to rains experienced since Thursday.
Officials of the towns of Pavia, Sta. Barbara, Tigbauan, Pototan and Miag-ao also announced the suspension of classes in their areas.
Zamboanga City
In Zamboanga City classes in elementary and high schools were suspended in Zamboanga City Friday due to bad weather.
“Due to worsening weather condition, Mayor Climaco orders suspension of classes in elem and secondary levels both public and private today,” the local government of Zamboanga City posted on Twitter.
Cancellation of classes in the college level will be upon the discretion of school officials due to exams, it added.
It also advised those living in low-lying areas to be on alert.
An intertropical convergence zone in Mindanao will bring cloudy skies and light to moderate rains there, the weather bureau said in its early-morning forecast.
