The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Friday said it found 12 undocumented Indians and 19 others with possible fake papers in Davao City following the agency’s launching of a crackdown against illegal aliens in the South. Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said the 31 Indians were investigated at the BI-Davao field office on Sept. 19 after months of intensive surveillance by BI intelligence operatives. David said the 12 found to be undocumented or have fraudulent visas in their passports have been arrested and will undergo deportation proceedings for violating the Philippine immigration law. “Some of them managed to acquire resident visas by submitting falsified documents in support of their visa applications,” the BI chief added.
