MANILA, Philippines—Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Alan Purisima will be subjected to a lifestyle check led by the joint efforts of the police, interior government, Ombudsman and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), tax chief Kim Henares said on Tuesday.
Henares, who was at the House of Representatives for the Bangsamoro basic bill hearing, said the PNP, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the National Police Commission (Napolcom) will conduct the lifestyle check.
Henares said the Ombudsman and the BIR will also assist in the lifestyle check.
Asked why there is no independent lifestyle check, Henares said the investigation will involve the same pieces of evidence anyway.
“Pareho lang ang documentation, ebidensya. Ang gagawin, i-o-organize ng DILG, PNP at Napolcom. Tutulong kami at ng ombudsman. Para isang imbestigasyon na lang at hindi na paulit ulit,” Henares said.
She assured that there will be no whitewashing of the lifestyle check under the watch of Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II.
“Si Mar Roxas naman nagdi-direct nun at chairman ng Napolcom is Sec. Roxas. I don’t think Sec. Roxas will allow any whitewashing,” Henares said.
Purisima faces plunder, graft and indirect bribery complaints before the Ombudsman over his alleged ill-gotten wealth.
He is accused of indirect bribery for accepting donations for the construction of his official residence in Camp Crame called the “White House.”
Meanwhile, Purisima faces the plunder and graft charges for allegedly hiding the true value of his alleged mansion in Nueva Ecija, which he claimed to be worth only P3.7 million.
