MANILA, Philippines – As far as Malacañang is concerned, Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Alan Purisima has been transparent to the public, especially after allowing media to tour his home in Nueva Ecija.
“Ang kapansin-pasin po dito ang pagiging bukas o transparent ni General Purisima sa pagpapasilip sa kanyang tahanan,” Communications Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma Jr. said in a televised press briefing.
(General Purisima’s transparency was obvious when he allowed people to see his home.)
Purisima is accused of plunder, graft and indirect bribery. His critics also claim that he has amassed ill-gotten wealth.
On Monday, he allowed members of the media to tour his Nueva Ecija property, a 4.7-hectare property which he calls an “ordinary house.”
Coloma also dismissed those who said that President Benigno Aquino III has a blind spot when it comes to Purisima, who is a close friend.
He pointed out that Purisima has had significant achievements as PNP chief.
