MANILA, Philippines –  Senator Nancy Binay likened on Tuesday her father’s approval ratings to the cycle of life, saying that sometimes it’s up but sometimes  it’s down.

“Hindi naman pwedeng palaging pataas ‘di ba? At some point, kelangan n’yang bumaba. Ganun ‘yung gravity ‘di ba?” Senator Binay told reporters when asked about the decline in Vice President Jejomar Binay’s performance and trust ratings based on the latest Pulse Asia survey.

(It can’t go up all the time, right? At some point, it will go down. That’s how gravity works, right?)

“What comes down must come up, what comes up must come down,” she said, “Parang life, minsan you’re up , you’re down kaya pag-sisipagan naming lahat na umakayat ang survey n’ya.”

(It’s like life, sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down so we will work hard so we can revitalize his ratings in the survey.)

From 81 percent in June, the Vice President’s performance rating dropped to 66 percent in September this year while his trust rating fell from 79 percent to 64 percent according to latest Pulse Asia survey.

But the senator said she was grateful that her father remained the most trusted government official based on the same survey despite the left and right accusations being hurled at him.

She admitted that the ongoing investigation into the controversial parking building in Makati City might have affected the Vice President’s ratings in the surveys.

“I guess kelangan n’yang maging mas aggressive pa at sipagan n’ya pa ‘yung pagtatrabaho n’ya,” the senator added.

(I guess he just needs to be more aggressive and work harder.)
