MANILA, Philippines–The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has welcomed 1,200 new law enforcers into its ranks.

According to a statement, the 1,020 policemen and 180 policewomen took their oath last week before NCRPO chief Director Carmelo Valmoria. The new law enforcers were picked from among 7,360 who had applied for admission into the Metro Manila police force since the start of the recruitment and selection process in January.

They will now undergo a Public Safety Field Training Program for a year during which “they must endure the painstaking physical conditioning to develop their efficiency, discipline and camaraderie….”

Their performance during the training will determine whether or not they would gain “permanent status” in the police force. According to the statement, the NCRPO was in the process of selecting new recruits for the next batch of police officers.–Kristine Felisse Mangunay
