20k posts up for grabs at QC job fair

MANILA, Philippines–More than 20,000 jobs will be up for grabs in a job fair organized by the Quezon City government on the city hall grounds on Tuesday.

In a press statement, Mayor Herbert Bautista said at least 60 establishments, including retail stores, fast food restaurants, clothing manufacturers and manpower agencies, would be looking for new personnel at the job fair.

The Quezon City Public Employment Services Office (Peso) noted that most of the job vacancies were for call center agents, office clerks, store and sales crew, and local manpower pooling.

There was also a demand for overseas workers, mostly for nurses, domestic helpers, welders, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, engineers, forklift operators, painters, drivers, masons and factory workers, the Peso said.

At the same time, Peso chief Carlo Magno Abella announced that the city government would be holding simultaneous job fairs on Oct. 11 in each of the city’s six districts. These will be held in barangay (village) halls and SM malls.
