MANILA, Philippines—The damage caused by Tropical Storm Mario (Fung-Wong) has reached P2 billion, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Friday.
“A total of P2,041,265,100 worth of damage in infrastructure was reported in the regions of Ilocos, Cagayan, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Cordillera and National Capital Region,” the NDRRMC said.
Most of the damage was in agriculture with P1.5 billion, while damage in infrastructure was almost P600,000.
Deaths also increased to 18.
The NDRRMC reported that 2,896 families or 11,481 persons remained in 81 evacuation centers in the said regions.
There were 1,843 houses reportedly damaged and 3,881 partially damaged in the regions of Ilocos, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and Cordillera.
The government has released P35 million worth of assistance.
