Man shoots ex-councilor dead, but is killed by victim’s companions in Masbate City
CAMARINES SUR, Philippines—Two persons, including a former city councilor, were shot dead in a restaurant in Masbate City early Thursday.
Police Officer 3 Zandro Cabintoy, spokesman of Masbate Provincial Police Office, said Enrico Legaspi, 30, former councilor of Masbate City, was having a drink with friends and relatives at a restaurant in Quezon Street, Masbate City at 1:50 a.m. when Arnel Layson, 34, approached and shot him.
Cabintoy, in an emailed message, said unidentified companions of Legaspi retaliated by stabbing Layson and then shooting him.
Legaspi was dead on arrival at the Masbate Doctors Hospital in the city while Layson died while being treated at the Masbate Provincial Hospital, also in the city.
Police recovered a .45-caliber pistol, seven empty shells of caliber 9mm, one .45-cal. slug and one folding knife at the scene.
