MANILA, Philippines―Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV warned officials of Makati City Hall, who failed to show up at the Senate on Thursday, telling them they are not a “separate republic.”
“If this is a boycott of some sort we’d not take this sitting down but of course we’ll go through the process,” Trillanes said during the hearing of the Senate blue ribbon committee.
“But let me remind the Makati City Hall officials that they’re not a separate republic. Their boss is not yet a president,” he said.
The senator was apparently referring to Vice President Jejomar Binay, who has declared his intent to run for president in 2016.
