MANILA, Philippines–Senator Nancy Binay scrutinized on Wednesday the funds that the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) had received through the controversial Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).
Parts of the DAP had been declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.
Senator Binay, an opposition member, directly questioned DILG Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, over the DAP funds that were given to his department.
Roxas answered the queries of the lady senator on how the funds were spent every year.
Roxas is being pushed by his colleagues in the Liberal Party to run against Senator Binay’s father, Vice President Jejomar Binay, who has declared his presidential bid in 2016.
Roxas ran and lost to the Vice President during the 2010 elections.
