MANILA, Philippines—Four domestic flights were cancelled Tuesday afternoon after being affected by sunset limitation and “aircraft situation,” the Department of Transportation and Communications said over Twitter.
Two flights of Cebu Pacific Air, 5J-506 Manila to Tuguegarao and 5J-507 Tuguegarao to Manila, were cancelled due to sunset limitation.
Sunset limitation happens when an airport does not have the adequate lighting facilities to allow plane take-offs and landings during the night and early morning.
The Godofredo P. Ramos Airport in Caticlan, Aklan and Tagbilaran Airport in Bohol are some airports in the country that do not allow evening flights citing sunset limitation.
Meanwhile, two flights of Philippine Airlines Express (PAL Express) which were cancelled due to “aircraft situation” were 2P-2053 Manila to Caticlan and 2P-2054 Caticlan to Manila.
DoTC did not elaborate on the “aircraft situation,” which forced the cancellation of the said flights.
