2 boys die in Isabela City fire

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Two boys perished in a fire in Isabela City, Basilan, on Monday afternoon.

Superintendent Albert Larubis, city police chief of Isabela City, said 10-year-old John Mark Salazar and his brother Reynaldo, 14, died when a fire razed the house of Benjamin Ko in Barangay (village) Seaside at 1 p.m. Monday.

Police Officer 1 Wilfredo Alcayra, investigator of the case, said Reynaldo was able to leave the burning house, but returned to save his brother. Both, however, failed to come out alive.

Renante Salazar, the father of the two boys, said his sons had disability.
