BATANGAS CITY, Philippines – Three persons were killed on the spot while three others wounded when an undetermined number of armed men fired at them after they arrived at a restaurant and bar in Mabini, Batangas, Sunday night, police said Monday.
Chief Inspector Rocell Encarnacion, Mabini police chief, identified those who were killed as Jonathan Tolosa, Cesar Manalo and Isco Ramos and the wounded as Migual Aldovino, Marlon Orsaal and Rea Bornales.
Encarnacion said all the five men were employed in a scrap business while Bornales worked for the restaurant in Barangay San Juan.
The five men had just arrived at the establishment around 10 p.m. to eat when at least three gunmen using long firearms shot them.
“When the victims fell from their seats, the gunmen approached them and finished them off,” said Encarnacion.
He said some of the assailants were already waiting at the restaurant while others had tailed the victims.
The assailants fled in a white Toyota Corolla with unknown license plate.
Recovered from the crime scene were 40 spent shells for M16 rifle and carbine.
Encarnacion said Bornales was apparently hit by a stray bullet. She was rushed to the Mabini General Hospital along with Orsaal and Aldovino.
Police have yet to determine the motive for the attack.
