According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the 69-year-old woman from Rodriguez, Rizal died due to head injuries.

She was the second casualty of Mario after a 2-year-old girl in Bagong Silang, Quezon City had drowned.

There were also news Friday night about a man who drowned in Caloocan and two people who were electrocuted in Manila, but the NDRRMC has yet to verify these reports.

Three injured persons and one missing person were confirmed by NDRRMC.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said during the NDRRMC briefing that at least 83,000 people have been evacuated.

Mario has caused non-stop rains throughout Luzon the whole day Friday by enhancing the Southwest Monsoon and causing widespread flooding that brought the National Capital Region to a standstill.

The Friday’s flood engulfed about 20 to 25 percent of the entire Metro Manila, but the water dumped by Mario was still just a fraction of the 60 percent that was caused by Tropical Storm “Ondoy” in 2009.

Ondoy dumped 445 mm of rainfall in 24-hours while the enhanced Southwest Monsoon from Mario dumped 268mm of rain.
