MANILA, Philippines—Metro Manila and nearby areas will remain under red rainfall warning alert for the next few hours Friday due to torrential rains whipped up by Topical Storm “Mario,” the state weather bureau said.
In its 3 p.m. rainfall warning bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the following areas are under red rainfall warning alert:
-Metro Manila
-Bataan
-Zambales
-Bulacan
-Laguna
-Rizal
-Cavite
-Batangas
Pagasa said severe flooding is expected in those areas.
Meanwhile, an orange rainfall warning alert is up in Quezon Province and Pampanga while a yellow rainfall warning is hoisted in Tarlac and Nueva Ecija.
A red rainfall warning means the rainfall amount is more than 30 millimeters and is expected in an hour. If it continues for three hours, 65 mm rainfall amount is expected.
Under the orange rainfall warning, 15 to 30 millimeters of rainfall is expected in the next two hours. The yellow rainfall warning, meanwhile, means 7.5 to 15 mm of rainfall amount is expected within an hour.
