MANILA, Philippines—Hailstones pelted parts of Makati City Wednesday afternoon, according to posts on social media by netizens.

Some claimed that hailstones the size of pebbles showered near Makati Avenue and Ayala Avenue.

Netizens took to social media their amazement and disbelief on the occurrence of the freak weather. While other people said that they have not felt the hailstones.

Other people were quick to allude that the hailstones were connected to the controversies hounding the Binay clan who leads Makati City.

Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather forecaster Jun Galang told INQUIRER.net that they have yet to confirm the occurrence of the hailstones.

Galang said that a hailstone is possible because hail is formed from thunderstorm clouds.

The state weather agency released a weather bulletin at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday which said that thunderstorms may persist in the National Capital Region within the day.
