Driver killed as tricycle, SUV collide in Camarines Sur accident

IBMANAN, Camarines Sur, Philippines—Traffic at the national highway in Barangay Mabulo Nuevo here was disrupted, with only light vehicles able to pass, after a sports utility vehicle collided head-on with a tricycle, killing its driver early morning Tuesday.

Police Officer 2 Jupiter Rubianes of the Libmanan police, said they were at the outpost near the accident site when they heard a loud sound around 5:20 a.m.

Rubianes identified the tricycle driver who was killed as Joker Cuenca.

He said Edwin Zapata, driver of the Montero SUV, claimed that as he was driving towards Naga City, the tricycle, which was on the opposite lane, tried to overtake another vehicle when the accident happened.

Zapata is now in the custody of the Libmanan police for investigation.
