‘Luis’ exits PH Monday morning; only Ilocos Norte under Signal 3

MANILA, Philippines—On its way out, Typhoon “Luis” is now over the West Philippine Sea and is expected to be outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Monday morning, the weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that as of as of 4 a.m., Luis was located at 100 km west northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gusts of up to 150 kph.

Luis is forecast to move west northwest path at 30 kilometers per hour.

Ilocos Norte is now the only province placed under Public Storm Warning Signal No. 3 and could experience winds of 101 kph to 185 kph for the next 18 hours from 4 a.m., Pagasa said.

Pagasa placed the provinces of Cagayan including Babuyan and Calayan Group of Islands, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province and Ilocos Sur under Public Storm Warning Signal No. 2. These areas could experience wind speeds of 61 kph to 100 kph for the next 24 hours.

Under Public Storm Warning Signal No. 1 are Isabela, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, La Union, Pangasinan and the Batanes group of islands, which could experience winds of 30 kph to 60 kph in the next 36 hours.
