Filing of charges ordered vs Edsa ‘hulidap’ cops

MANILA, Philippines—The Mandaluyong City Prosecutors Office ordered the filing of criminal charges against two policemen allegedly involved in the September 1 robbery-abduction on Edsa.

Chief Inspector Joseph De Vera, Deputy Commander of the La Loma Police Station in Quezon City and Police Officer 2 Jonathan Rodriguez will be charged with one count of robbery in band, one count of kidnapping for ransom and violation of the Anti Carnapping Act of 1972.

“After an assiduous evaluation of the evidence presented, the office finds probable cause to charge arrested respondents De Vera and Rodriguez,”  Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Michael Henson Dayao said in a six page resolution of the Mandaluyong Prosecutors Office.

The resolution, approved by Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Richard Anthony Fadullon, said the  testimonies are “clear, straightforward and unequivocal.”

On the other hand, the case against Marco Polo Estrera, Senior Police Office 1 Ramil Hachero, PO2 Ebonn Decatoria, PO2 Weavin Masa, Oliver Villanueva, Jerome Datinguinoo and Mark L. Dela Paz will be subject to preliminary investigation.

They were at large when De Vera and Rodriguez underwent inquest proceedings.
