Police continue search for abducted Chinese youth

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police in Western Mindanao continue to look for four persons who abducted a Chinese teenager Thursday night in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Senior Supt. Jose Bayani Gucela, spokesperson of the Western Mindanao police office, said the last known location of the group that abducted 18-year-old Li Pei Zhei was near the coastal area of Barangay Buayan.

Li had been in Kabasalan for the past three months and operated a store, Kabasalan Mayor George Cainglet said.

He said the Chinese national was tending his store when four unidentified men, brandishing high-powered firearms, arrived in a van, overpowered the store’s lone guard, dragged the victim to the vehicle and fled.

Gucela said police later found the burned getaway vehicle in Barangay Tumuay Danda, still in Kabasalan. With a report from Jeoffrey Maitem, Inquirer Mindanao
