QC gov’t workers to get jubilee bonus
On Quezon City’s 75th “birthday,” government workers will receive a blowout in the form of cash gifts.
Mayor Herbert Bautista signed on Sept. 3 an ordinance granting a P5,000 bonus for regular city hall employees and P3,000 for other workers during its diamond jubilee celebration next month.
The Quezon City government which was founded in 1939 under Commonwealth Act No. 502 will mark its 75th founding anniversary on Oct. 12.
Under the ordinance introduced by Councilor Voltaire Godofredo Liban III, the city treasurer will allocate P44.92 million for the cash bonuses.
“As we celebrate the 75th anniversary, it is but fit and proper that QC extends its gratitude to its employees by way of providing them with an anniversary bonus,” Liban said in explaining the measure.
“All the good things we have achieved would not have come to pass were it not for the hard work, industry and [efficiency] of the legions of personnel and employees of the city government who are at the forefront in the delivery of basic public services,” he added.
