KORONADAL CITY, Philippines – The National Food Authority (NFA) South Cotabato provincial office has suspended the accreditation of its 32 rice outlets for not heeding the agency’s policies in selling cheap rice.
Guialudin Usman, NFA-South Cotabato manager, told reporters that the violators were caught re-bagging NFA rice and not displaying the tag price of the cheap rice being sold in their stalls.
“We’ve been appealing to them not to violate the rules of the agency but there were still hard-headed individuals who defied the order,” Usman said.
Usman explained that since these were first-time violators, their permits were suspended for two weeks.
South Cotabato has 124 accredited NFA rice outlets, 39 of which are in selected villages.
Ordinary NFA rice in South Cotabato is being sold at P27 pero kilogram while the well-milled rice is sold P32 per kilogram.
