2 slain in Laguna shootout
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines—Two men, suspected by police as members of a robbery-hold-up gang, were slain in a shootout in Biñan City, Laguna, late Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Supt. Romulo Sapitula, the Laguna police director, said in a text message, the shootout took place in Barangay (village) Wawa past 4 p.m.
An initial police report said Biñan policemen encountered four armed persons, two of whom died during the firefight, while the two others were able to escape, Sapitula’s message read.
The suspects, however, left a maroon Toyota Revo, with plate number TJI233 and police recovered from the scene two .38-caliber revolvers.
No other details were provided by the police as of this time, except that the city police conducted follow-up operations to track down the fleeing men.
