MANILA, Philippines—Businessman Domingo “Sandy” de Guzman III, who allegedly masterminded the killing of car racing champion Ferdinand “Enzo” Pastor, has been released from the custody of police after posting bail for his illegal possession of firearms charge on Tuesday.

‎Senior Inspector Maricar Taqueban, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Public Information Office chief, told INQUIRER.net that De Guzman was given provisional liberty by the Muntinlupa Court for his illegal possession of firearms and ammunition charge.

De Guzman posted bail and was released at about 3 p.m.

His ‎murder and frustrated murder complaints, meanwhile, will be subject to preliminary investigation.

“The court will still have to determine if there is probable cause or enough evidence to detain him for murder and frustrated murder,” Taqueban said over the phone.

On Monday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) found probable cause on his illegal possession of firearms charge following his arrest in Muntinlupa City on August 27.

De Guzman is allegedly a lover of Pastor’s wife Dalia Guerrero, who is also a suspect behind the car enthusiast’s murder last June 12.
