Student dies, several others hurt as suspension bridge snaps in Quezon

MANILA, Philippines—A high school student died while several others were injured when a suspension bridge snapped in a village in Macalelon town in Quezon province, police said.

The bridge collapsed while 50 high school students from Macalelon High School were crossing it during their five-day camping in Barangay Masipag.


Abegail Palo, a 4th year student, was declared dead on arrival at the Gumaca District Hospital, said Quezon police.

The injured students were being treated at the hospital and four of them were already declared safe.
