School supervisor, husband shot dead in North Cotabato

COTABATO CITY – Two men on a motorcycle shot dead a school supervisor and her husband on the national highway in Pikit, North Cotabato on Sunday, police said.

Inspector Mautin Pangandigan, Pikit police chief, identified the victims as Violeta Flores Almazan, 62, education supervisor of Midsayap South District, and her husband Gervacio Almazan, 63, a retired government employee, both residents of Magpet, North Cotabato.

Police said the Almazans were traveling on a motorcycle to Midsayap when gunmen on another motorcycle fired at them in Barangay (village) Dalengawen in Pikit.

The husband, who was driving the motorbike, died on the spot while passers-by rushed the education official to a hospital but she was declared dead on arrival.
