Rabies alert

Officials of the province on Wednesday raised the alert anew for the possible spread of rabies after health officials reported that four people have been bitten by a rabid dog in one town alone.

Dr. Luis Mendoza, provincial health officer, advised the local heath office in Oas town to retrieve the head of the rabid dog that was killed by residents after it attacked four people in two villages.

QUEZON

Explosives seized

Policemen at a checkpoint on Maharlika Highway in Pagbilao town seized a cargo of explosives on Tuesday, according to authorities.

A report released by the Quezon provincial police office said the policemen flagged down a jeepney for illegal display of license plate and noise pollution.

When inspected, policemen found 130 pieces of a type of explosives named Nitro Em 1500. Also seized were wires and 200 pieces of blasting caps.

Art exhibit

The University of the Philippines Baguio Fine Arts Program, in coordination with the Committee on Culture and the Arts and the Society for the Visual Arts, invites art enthusiasts and patrons to an art exhibit dubbed as “Linay” which will open Saturday (Sept. 24) at 4 p.m. at the Maryknoll Sanctuary Gallery, Campo Sioco, Baguio City.

The exhibit, which will run until Oct. 27, will showcase the recent works of UP Baguio’s graduating Fine Arts students. Linay is an Ilocano word that roughly means slow cooking.
